You can make your shut down process a bit faster by the following tweak.

Steps: (download the registry file)

1. This step is very important.
Export (right click > Export) the following keys and save it to a safer place.

HKEY CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Desktop
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

2. Open Notepad, copy and paste the following to the Notepad.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"AutoEndTasks"="1"
"HungAppTimeout"="1000"
"WaitToKillAppTimeout"="2000"

3. Save the file and close Notepad.

4. Change extension of the file from .txt (text file) to .reg (registry file).

5. Double click open this file and click Yes and the OK .

Increase Hard Disk speed in Windows

If you like to increase/optimize your Hard Disk I/O - read/write speed without buying expensive software utilities to do that job or changing the HD, just follow next steps. With doing these steps you will increase Hard disk speed (depends of manufacture and specification, but its worth to try). 1. Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the start & then Run command.
2. Expand the system.ini file window.
3. Scroll down almost to the end of the file untill you find a line called [386enh].
4. Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type
5. Irq14=4096 (note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE)
6. Click on the File menu, then choose Save.
7. Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.
8. Restart windows!

The speed improvement will be noticed just after the system reboots, any system info. software can be used to check the improvement.

How to disable Windows XP Boot logo

Speedup Your Folder Browsing

You may have noticed that everytime you open my computer to browse folders that there is a slight delay. This is because Windows XP automatically searches for network files and printers everytime you open Windows Explorer. To fix this and to increase browsing significantly:

1. Open My Computer
2. Click on Tools menu
3. Click on Folder Options
4. Click on the View tab.
5. Uncheck the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box
6. Click Apply
7. Click Ok
8. Reboot your computer

Bing Search Share Up 7 Percent, Google Down 1 Point in US

According to the latest report from Experian Hitwise, shows that Bing share of U.S. searches share up 7 percent in June this year, its piece of the pie rise to 9.85 percent. And Google’s share fell slightly 1 percent, from the 72.17 percent in May to 71.65 percent in June this year. Yahoo was flat at 14.37 percent and Ask.com share was raised by 2 percent to 2.14 percent.

Bing obviously increased rate of vertical search such as health, tourism. In travel, for instance, travel information category search jumped up 162 percent, from 1.3 percent to 3.4 percent. However, it's is still far behind compared with Google in these categories.

iPhone 4 now Available for Pre-order; Unlocked Versions Offered in UK

Probably the hottest tech item in the planet today, the iPhone 4 is not up for pre-order at the Apple website today. What is bizarre with this announcement is that only the black model will be available for pre-order. This means that if you want to complement your white Macbook with a white iPhone 4, you have to wait for some time.

As expected the iPhone 4 will be available for $199 for the 16Gb and $299 for the 32Gb, this is on the premise that you will subscribe to AT&T for each. But since we’re in a different continent and we only have Globe, Smart, Sun and other telecom companies we will not be able to enjoy this kind of price.

Logitech to Produce UMP Drive add-on to PSP Go

There seems to be a plan on the part of Sony to ditch the UMD in its upcoming PSP Go. But there are groups who are not in favor of this move as evidenced by the high sales of PSP 3000. In anticipation of Sony’s plan to remove the UMD in the PSP Go, Logitech is set to offer a UMD drive add-on for PSP Go. The only problem with this offer of Logitech is that it will make the PSP Go somewhat bulkier. Not to mention the fact that it will make PSP Go a bit more costly. Let us see when the product is released and hope this product will not be that bad for the PSP Go.

Nokia C3, C6 and E5 Looks Sexy in their Smooth-eddged Look

Nokia announced a triumvirate of new phones namely the CSeries C3 and C6 as well as the new E5. What is common with this three devices is their QWERTY functionality which is a good news to those who want the look of a computer keyboard.

The C6 mobile phone runs on a Symbian S60 5th ed. It has a high res 3.2-inch screen and a decent 5 MP camera. It comes with a Nokia messaging support as well as free Ovi maps service. It is touted to last up to 7 hours of talk time. The price is set at around Php13,400 and will be available on the second quarter of this year.

Then there is the C3 which is the cheapest of the group as it comes at around Php5,500. It only runs the Symbian S40 and has no Ovi maps service. It has wifi but all other features are equal to the value of money you paid such as a lowly 2 MP camera. The C3 will also be available in the second quarter of this year.

Finally, there’s the E5 which is a successor of the E71 and E72. What is noticeable with the E5 is its increased thickness but lighter weight compared to the other two. Nokia informs us that it will have 18.5 hours of talk time. It also runs Symbian S60 3rd ed and has Ovi Maps feature. It is priced at around Php11,000 and will be out on the third quarter of 2010.

iPhone 4 Launch Hours Away but AT&T's Inventory Remains Doubtful

So with only a few days after the much-anticipated release of the Apple iPhone 4, it appears having the cash handy and the willingness to commit to a wireless service contract may not be enough.

According to AT&T, due to inventory issues, it won't have any devices available for purchase at its stores until five days after the official release on Thursday.

The company also said that customers who preordered the iPhone 4 should receive home and business deliveries beginning at the end of the week. But new buyers will have to wait until at least July 14 for backorders to clear up.

While it is still unclear what kind of inventory shortage is resulting only AT&T being unable to stock new iPhones in stores, Apple said its retailers would still sell the device on Thursday, as would Wal-Mart, Best Buy and RadioShack. But they also added that units are likely to be in short supply/ first come, first serve basis.

The issue highlights how hard it has become for phone makers to predict demand for new products. They depend on a number of parts from separate suppliers and often have difficulties beefing up production when a shortage does happen.

Business Tycoon Online To Release Item Combination System

DOVOGAME has just announced one of the most exciting features yet to be introduced in Business Tycoon Online; the brand new item combination system in Bell Labs. Speculation and rumors have been rife on the forums and game chat that this was in the works, and players will surely be delighted with this new addition.

As sufficient Flasks have now been donated by Liberty City's generous citizens, the local inventor Bell can finally release his item combination system on which he has worked tirelessly for the best part of 30 years. Now, it's time to pay those citizens back, by allowing them the use of this unique system.

Tycoons may find themselves with excess medals and vehicles in their inventory. As only one of each can be used at once time, this may seem quite a waste. Not anymore however. These vehicles and medals can now be combined, respectively, resulting in a unique and exclusive hybrid with special attributes, unavailable for purchase anywhere else. Although the combination is not a guaranteed success, the success rate can be increased using 'Combination Scrolls', with the success percentage viewable to the player.

Available in Bell Labs in the City section, this feature is a nice new addition to the game, allowing players to, in effect, exchanges their excess and unused vehicles and medals for a higher-end model. Particularly nice is the fact that this only requires TCN, the in-game currency, allowing all players to participate in this activity.
